- Oil based white undercoat
- For interior & exterior use
- Use on wood & metal
- Use over primers
Rustins White Undercoat is a high-quality, oil-based undercoat that is suitable for all interior and exterior woodwork on primed or previously painted wood or metal.
During preparation, the surface must be clean, smooth, sound, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants. If the wood or metal surface is bare, apply the appropriate primer before painting with an undercoat.
For metal, use Red Oxide Metal Primer and treat rust before priming with Rustins Rust Remover. On wood, use Rustins Aluminium Primer or Rustins White Primer, then treat knots with Rustins Knotting.
Existing paint should be cleaned with white spirit, detergent or Rustins Sugar Soap and then sanded lightly to provide a key, prior to painting. If the paint is in bad condition or flaking, remove it with Strypit Paint & Varnish Stripper.
Apply evenly using a good quality brush. A single coat is sufficient, but a second may be applied if required. Sand lightly between coats if required.
Drying time is usually 4-8 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity. Additional coats may be added after 4-8 hours. Do not use below 10C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage is 14 sq.metre per coat per litre depending on the absorbency of the surface.
Rustins White Undercoat is sold in 250ml, 500ml and 1L containers.
